Core Floor foundations and Slab foundations; many times, the two terms are used interchangeably, when they are really quite different from each other. At some point during the home search process, you will likely find yourself wondering what the difference is between these two foundation types.
In a nutshell;
- A core floor foundation has holes running through it where you would run plumbing and electrical, see picture below;
Core Floor Foundation
- Whereas a slab is poured concrete which is done on site and has no plumbing or electrical running though it- utilities would be run above the floor.
While there are likely numerous other intricacies to each foundation type, and likely many advantages and disadvantages either way, these would best be discussed in more depth with your Home Inspector or Foundation Specialist.
